THE HOW & WHAT
Interpreting regulations & putting them into practice can be challenging. Below are strategies to ensure this component is met:
Desired Results Parent Survey
Document issued by the California Department of Education (CDE) to complete the program parent survey.
Questionnaire completed by the parent to assess the child care program or services that the child & family receive. The survey asks for information about how the program helps parents support their child's learning & development & meets the family's needs.
Note: At this time, for CAPP & CRRP programs, an agency may develop it's own parent satisfaction survey
Distribute & Tally
Distribute the Parent surveys to parents enrolled in the program.
After the surveys are returned, tally the results for each center-based and family child care home education network contract type. There are sample tally sheets located on the Desired Results webpage.
Tally Sheets (Desired Results Webpage)
Analyze the Results
Once the results are tallied, contractors must analyze the parent survey results to plan & conduct activities to help parents support their child's learning & development & to meet the family's needs.
Identify the key findings based on the survey results and record it on the Parent Survey Summary of Findings form.
Plan & Use the Results
Use the results & analysis of the parent survey as part of the annual self-evaluation process.
For the key finding(s) identified as most needing improvement, develop & write attainable Action Steps to support the program in progressing from “Not Satisfied” to “Satisfied” or “Very Satisfied” & from “No” to “Yes.” Include modifications in communication, training, space, instructional materials, schedules, and supervision, as applicable.
Note: The follow-up column will be blank when the Summary of Findings is first completed
Follow-up & Reflect
Periodically review the status of all the Action Steps, completion dates & persons responsible.
Record modifications or changes needed to complete the Action Steps, and expected completion dates.
Reflect on the results & record progress or changes made to the key finding(s).
